Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent to the independent provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and returns any results through its service. This site does not maintain a separate log or database of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email the site, the message may be retained so it can be answered. It is kept within the site operation unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, technical information connected with the visit may be collected, including:
- The internet protocol address assigned to the connection
- Browser type and version
- Device and operating-system details
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The referring site, when one is supplied
- Times associated with page requests
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device that help measure general site use, such as which pages receive traffic. Analytics services can aggregate that information. A browser can be set to refuse cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
The limited information described above may be used to operate and improve the site.
- Maintain availability and page performance
- Route a search request to the selected provider
- Understand which guidance pages visitors use
- Diagnose and address technical problems
- Support advertising that may be relevant to a visitor's interests
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not hold, compile, sell, or maintain a database of Summit County dockets or personal case-record information. It provides general routing information for records held by the Summit County Clerk of Courts, Legal Division, the Summit County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, and separate local courts. Ohio has no unified statewide trial-court case search. Court access is governed by Ohio Rules of Superintendence 44 and 45, while Ohio Revised Code §149.43 applies to the pre-July 2009 cases identified by the Summit Clerk. This site is not a consumer reporting agency, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports about third parties.
Third-Party Search Partners
Search boxes are operated by outside companies. Information entered in a tool is subject to that provider's privacy policy and practices, including its retention and sharing choices. Those practices are not controlled by this site, so review the provider's policy before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
The site links to clerk pages, court portals, the Supreme Court of Ohio materials, and independent search services. A link takes the visitor to a different website, where that website's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across websites to present interest-based advertising. That activity occurs on their systems rather than this site's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this site. Limited information may be available to:
- Search providers that receive a query submitted through their service
- Analytics vendors used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that serve advertisements on pages
- Government or law-enforcement entities when a valid legal requirement applies
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used for the information this site handles. No internet-based system can promise complete security, so an unauthorized access incident cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If information from a minor has been provided to the site, it will be removed when appropriate.
Your Data Rights
You may ask about personal information this site holds about you. A request for an official court record is different: in Summit County, access is governed by Ohio Sup.R. 44 and 45, with Ohio Revised Code §149.43 applying to the pre-July 2009 cases described by the Summit Clerk. Those court-record requests must be directed to the clerk or court maintaining the file. For site-held information, you can:
- Request a copy of site-held information about you
- Ask that incorrect site-held information be corrected
- Request deletion of site-held information where appropriate
- Choose not to submit information to independent search providers
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices change. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
